Requirements for Graduation

Degrees are conferred by the Board of Trustees of the School to students who have completed all requirements of the Associate in Applied Science Degree in Nursing.

Students must earn a minimum cumulative nursing grade point average of 2.0 and a minimum grade of “C” in each required general education course. Students must complete 69 credit hours for the degree. All credits in the nursing major must be sponsored by and taken on the Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions campus.

Each senior student must attain the national passing score on the RN Assessment Achievement Exam to fulfill graduation requirements. The exam may be retaken.  The student may participate in graduation activities but will not receive a diploma until this requirement is met.  The deadline for completing this requirement is June 1st. If a student does not meet this requirement by June 1st, he/she will have to repeat NUR 202 in the fourth semester.

Students will not be issued a degree if they have not met all their financial and library obligations toward the Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions.

Participation in the commencement ceremony is required for graduation. This requirement can be waived only by special action of the faculty. A written request must be submitted to the Associate Director at least four (4) weeks prior to the date of graduation. If the student is excused, the student will be listed on the program as graduated in absentia.
