Purpose and Mission

The Central Maine Medical Center College of Nursing and Health Professions was founded in 1891 and was incorporated at Lewiston, Maine, on January 29, 1977, as a non-sectarian, private educational institution, offering to qualified men and women a curriculum at the Associate Degree level, and is committed to:

  • enhancing the quality of life in the region;

  • providing opportunities for individuals to obtain their post-secondary education in a most effective and efficient manner;

  • expanding individuals' intellectual skills; kindling an ongoing desire to learn; strengthening their capacity to reason; and making responsible decisions relating to current issues in a rapidly changing healthcare environment;

  • preparing individuals to graduate with the competencies expected of nurses with an Associate Degree which enables them to take the registered nurse licensing examination.

  • offering educational programs to meet the needs of individuals and groups in the region.
