Central Maine Medical Center

School of Nuclear Medicine

The Central Maine Medical Center School of Nuclear Medicine Technology was founded in 1996 as a result of a rapidly changing healthcare environment. It was the first School of Nuclear Medicine Technology in the state of Maine. The one-year program of advanced standing offered classes and clinical practicum in Nuclear Medicine Technology. The program was and continues to be accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology.

In 2009 the program was expanded to 18 months and includes classroom and clinical education in Computed Tomography. By combining both fields this will meet the expanding needs of Nuclear Medicine Technology which includes dual imaging in PET/CT. Upon graduation from the program students will be eligible to apply for national certification in both Nuclear Medicine Technology and Computed Tomography.

The School of Nuclear Medicine Technology has a long tradition of excellence in the field. Since its inception, our graduates have a 100% pass rate on the national certification examinations in Nuclear Medicine Technology and a 100% placement rate in the field.
