The Central Maine Medical Center School of Nuclear
Medicine Technology was founded in 1996 as a result of a rapidly changing
healthcare environment.It was the
first School of Nuclear Medicine Technology in the state of Maine.The one-year program of advanced
standing offered classes and clinical practicum in Nuclear Medicine
Technology.The program was and
continues to be accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Educational
Programs in Nuclear Medicine Technology.
In 2009 the program was expanded to 18 months and includes
classroom and clinical education in Computed Tomography.By combining both fields this will meet
the expanding needs of Nuclear Medicine Technology which includes dual imaging
in PET/CT.Upon graduation from
the program students will be eligible to apply for national certification in
both Nuclear Medicine Technology and Computed Tomography.
The School of Nuclear Medicine Technology has a long
tradition of excellence in the field.Since its inception, our graduates have a 100% pass rate on the national
certification examinations in Nuclear Medicine Technology and a 100% placement
rate in the field.
